Van Buren County native and resident Harold Rigsby, 100, was born Feb. 9, 1926 and died May 20, 2026 at his residence following an extended illness.
A veteran of the United States Army, a retired state highway work and farmer and a member of Mt. Elim Baptist Church, he was the son of the late Fred Harold and Hallie Etta Pack Rigsby. He was married to Hazel Maxine Linville Rigsby on Sept. 5, 1949 who preceded him in death. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by son-in-law, Charlie Myers and brothers, Earl Rigsby and Fred Rigsby, Jr.
Mr. Rigsby is survived by daughters, Brenda Myers of Bone Cave, Sandra (Wade) Bouldin of Spencer and Pam (John) Comer of Rock Island; sons, Kenneth (Janice) Rigsby of Bone Cave and Keith (Misty) Rigsby of Morrison and seven grandchildren, five step- grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and three great great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, May 23, 2026 in High’s Chapel with Willard Ralph, Jr. and Dillon Simmons officiating. Burial will follow at Long Cemetery in Van Buren County. Visitation will be Friday from 3 p.m. until 9 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. until time of service at High’s.
