Just after 2 a.m. Thursday, a White County woman who feared someone was trying to force their way into her home armed herself and called 911, setting in motion an encounter that ended with felony charges against a Cookeville man.
According to warrants filed in White County General Sessions Court, deputies responded to a residence on Robinson Chapel Road after the homeowner reported that a man was outside her back door, yelling, throwing objects and trying to get inside. The woman told dispatchers she feared he would harm her if he made entry, prompting her to retrieve a firearm while waiting for deputies to arrive.
