City officials announced plans to designate the newly developed thoroughfare connecting towardCook Roadas "James S. Mayberry Avenue". Staff explained that extending the "Interstate Drive" moniker was impractical due to existing property numbering conventions, which begin atGenesis Roadand would have required widespread readdressing for established businesses. The naming serves as a tribute to Mayberry’s pivotal role in championing 2019 state commercial development district legislation, which enabled sales tax increment financing for the retail corridor.
