A move by Crossville Mayor RJ Crawford to terminate the city’s Flock camera contract died for lack of a second Tuesday night, leaving the controversial surveillance system in place despite continued public outcry.

Several citizens addressed the council expressing concerns over the city’s Flock Safety camera network.

When the council reached agenda discussion on the Flock camera system later in the evening, Mayor Crawford made a motion to cancel all contracts with Flock and remove the cameras. Crawford commented, "If I had to answer the question, 'Is the juice worth the squeeze?' regarding Flock cameras, my answer is no."

Crawford’s motion was met with silence from the remaining council members.

With no council member offering a second, the motion failed, leaving the contract and cameras in place.
