There will be no shortage of candy in downtown McMinnville this Halloween, but the Main Street Journal plans to sweeten the deal with a prize that won't fit in a trick-or-treat bag.
Main Street Media will once again take part in downtown McMinnville's Halloween festivities Friday, Oct. 30, bringing back its popular costume contest with Dollywood tickets going to the most popular costume.
The Journal gave away Dollywood tickets during last year's festivities and is looking to make the contest an annual tradition. With plenty of creative costumes expected, the competition should be interesting.
Hosted by Main Street McMinnville and participating downtown businesses, the annual trick-or-treating event is expected to run from 3-5 p.m., with businesses welcoming costumed youngsters for an afternoon of candy collecting.
The festivities also include Special Friends Trick-or-Treat, a sensory-friendly event for individuals with disabilities or special needs. Traditionally held from 10-11:30 a.m. in the downtown grassy lot area, the event offers a quieter setting for participants to enjoy Halloween.
Additional details about the Dollywood ticket giveaway and how to enter the costume contest will be announced closer to Halloween.
