The White County Warriors are heading into their bye week with a perfect 8-0 record after picking up a 35-6 win over DeKalb County Friday night in Smithville.

The Warriors put 28 points on the board in the first half and added another touchdown in the third quarter before the Tigers finally found the end zone on the final play of the game. The win also improved White County to 3-0 in region play.

DeKalb County tried to catch the Warriors off guard with an onside kick to open the game, but Maddox Pratt recovered it, giving White County good field position for its first possession. The Warriors took advantage, moving down the field with a combination of runs and short passes before Cole Sims carried the ball into the end zone.

The White County defense forced a quick punt, and the Warriors went right back to work. This time, Sims helped keep the drive alive with a fourth-down conversion out of the Wildcat formation before scoring his second touchdown of the night. Marshall Phillips connected on both extra points, and White County led 14-0 after the first quarter.

The Warriors opened the second quarter with a little more excitement through the air. With DeKalb County loading up to stop the run, Tucker Pinion found Bryson Hogg downfield in single coverage. Hogg hauled in the pass and outran the defense for White County's third touchdown of the night.

Hogg nearly added another score on a punt return after a solid Warrior defense wouldn't give the Tigers any room. Hogg received the punt and weaved his way down the sideline and into the end zone, but a block-in-the-back penalty brought the play back. The Warriors still managed to finish the possession with points as Pinion connected with sophomore Rick Foster on a quick slant. Foster crossed the goal line to make it 28-0.

DeKalb County put together its best drive of the first half late in the second quarter, moving inside the White County 10-yard line. But the Warrior defense held its ground. Lex Winfree helped shut down a quarterback run, and the defensive line forced an incomplete pass on fourth down to end the threat.

The Tigers had another opportunity to score when they opened the second half with a sustained drive. White County's defense again made things difficult, with Eli Sparkman helping bring down the quarterback following a fumbled snap. DeKalb County eventually attempted a field goal, but the kick came up short.

White County answered with its fifth touchdown of the night, and this one belonged to Foster. The sophomore took a handoff and fought his way through the DeKalb County defense, breaking several tackles on his way to the end zone. Phillips added his fifth successful extra point, giving the Warriors a 35-0 lead late in the third quarter.

The Tigers continued to move the ball at times, but the Warriors kept them out of the end zone. Another DeKalb County drive reached the red zone before ending with a missed field goal early in the fourth quarter.

With the game well in hand, White County began working its reserves into the lineup. DeKalb County eventually put together one final drive, reaching the goal line in the closing seconds. Quarterback Jesse Foutch kept the ball on the final play and ran it into the end zone as time expired, giving the Tigers their only six points of the night.

Sims finished with two rushing touchdowns, while Foster added one rushing and one receiving score. Hogg accounted for the other touchdown on his deep reception from Pinion, and Phillips was perfect on all five extra-point attempts.

The win sends White County into its bye week undefeated, with eight straight wins and a 3-0 region record. The Warriors will have a week off before returning to the field for the final stretch of the regular season.
