The White County Warriorettes racked up 16 hits Monday night and never looked back in a 12-2 run-rule win over Clay County — and Addison Norvell was right in the middle of it all.

Norvell finished the night with four hits and scored three runs, setting the tone early and staying on the basepaths all game long as White County’s offense kept the pressure on.

She got things started in the bottom of the first inning with a single, then moved to third when Kylie Norvell ripped a double into right field. After Anna McCulley was hit by a pitch to load the bases, Callie Phillips drew a walk that forced Norvell home for the game’s first run.

The Warriorettes broke things open in the third inning.

A string of hits — including doubles, infield singles, and well-placed bunts — turned into a six-run frame. Annie Burrier and Kaylee Sanders each drove in runs, while Miah Jo Swindell dropped down a bunt that found the gap between the circle and home plate for another RBI. The Norvell sisters followed with back-to-back RBI singles as White County surged to an 8-0 lead.

Clay County managed to push across two runs in the fifth inning with a pair of singles and walks, but it was the only response they could muster.

White County answered again in the bottom half of the inning. Singles from Kylie Norvell and Phillips, along with McCulley reaching on an error, loaded the bases. Addison Howell drew a walk to bring in another run, and Burrier added a sacrifice fly to stretch the lead.

The Warriorettes closed it out in the sixth. Abbi Hutson and Addison Norvell each singled, and Kylie Norvell followed with a walk to load the bases. McCulley then lined a double into center field, driving in the final two runs needed to trigger the run rule.

In the circle, Mabry Taylor went the distance, throwing 95 pitches. The senior allowed just two runs on three hits while walking four and striking out four.

The win moves White County to 4-11 on the season and sets up a busy stretch with a trip to Cumberland County on Tuesday before heading back to Crossville on Thursday to face Stone Memorial.
