Mr. Michael Lewis Young, 69, of Morrison passed away on Wednesday, April 8, 2026 at his residence following an extended illness. He was born on May 28, 1956 in McMinnville. He was a faithful member of Newtown The Baptist Church of Christ. A loving father and devoted husband, he was a true protector of his family. Over the years he had been a farmer, a long-time employee of Warren Farmers Co-Op, and a Warren County Sheriff’s Department employee, but the role he was most proud of was a City of McMinnville firefighter. Big Pa was greatly loved by his family. A hero to his family, he was a God-fearing Christian man. One of his greatest joys in life was his grandchildren. He was an avid Atlanta Braves fan. Big Pa loved the beach, baseball, Sundrop and Whoppers. But most of all, he loved his family. He enjoyed woodworking, carpentry, and collecting trading cards. He had the spirit of a fighter and a heart of gold.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years Shelia Young, children Chad Michael (Tara) Young, Misty (Matt) Jones, and Sarah (Micheal) Walters, sister Debbie (Buford) Ayers, brother Trent (Shelli) Young, grandkids Breanna Forth, Ashton Forth, Jessie Young, Ali Young, Natalie Cox, Maggie Jo Walters, Kreed Walters, and Oddy Walters, sister-in-law Carol (Fuzz) Roberts, and special friend and family member Mark Joines. Several nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly also survived. He is preceded in death by his parents Elmer Lewis Young and Janey Hilda Poss Young and sister-in-law Shannon Panter Parish.
A memorial service for Mr. Michael Young will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 12, 2026 in the McMinnville Funeral Home Chapel. Jackie Matheny, Martin Bell and Darrell Cantrell will officiate. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 11 a.m. until the time of service at 2 p.m.
