Our family is heartbroken to announce the passing of our beloved mother and grandmother, Minnie “Alberta” Garrett, 93 of the Campaign community who passed away peacefully on Aug. 11, 2026 surrounded by her loving family. She was the anchor of our lives and a constant source of unconditional love to everyone that knew her.

Born on Dec. 25, 1932 in Campaign to William and Phoebe McCormick. She was married to Gene Austin Garrett who preceded her in death along with her brother, J.T. McCormick; sister, Vera Nancy Lee Baker and brother, Alton McCormick.

She is survived by her two daughters, Renee Carson and Kay Pendleton; grandchildren, Hilary Bowers (Jack Bowers), Tessa Baxter and Maryalice (Marvin) Mamaril; nine great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; special companion, Booney Ferrell and cousins, special friends and neighbors.

She lived a life marked by dedication to her family, great strength and deep community roots, but above all her love for the Lord and her family and friends. She taught us the true value of kindness, grace and resilience through her everyday actions.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Gentiva Hospice and pastor Lyle and his wife.

A private burial was held with the family and no service or visitation was held at High’s.

Online condolences may be left at www.highfuneralhome.com.
