· The Kevin Bouldin Memorial Youth Coon Hunt will take place on October 18, 2025, with registration from 4-5 p.m. at the Van Buren County Justice Center, located at 121 Taft Drive in Spencer, TN. The event is open to youth ages 17 and under and participants must return by midnight. Hunters must be accompanied by an adult, and all applicable state wildlife laws and hunter education requirements will apply. Hunters and dogs will not be provided. · The McMinnville City High School Class of 1963 will hold its class reunion Oct. 18, 2025 at noon at Helen’s on the Green. All classmates are encouraged to attend. Prepayment is not required, but organizers would like to know by Oct. 10 to plan for an accurate number of attendees. · Caring Hearts United’s monthly meeting will be held Tuesday, Oct. 21, from 6-7 p.m. at 352 S. Chancery St., Suite 4. The group will not meet in September, November or December.
· The Warren County Health Department will offer free flu shots Tuesday, Oct. 21, at 1401 Sparta Street in McMinnville as part of the Tennessee Department of Health’s annual “Fight Flu TN” campaign. Vaccinations will be available throughout the day with no appointment required. The event is part of a statewide effort to make flu prevention easy and accessible and to reduce the spread of illness through the winter months. Health officials encourage everyone six months and older, especially children, older adults and those with chronic conditions, to take advantage of this opportunity for free protection against the flu. This event is open to the public.
· Caring Hearts United will host Halloween Bingo on Thursday, October 23, 2025, at the Heritage Event Center, 303 S. High St., McMinnville. Doors open at 5:30 p.m., with bingo games played from 6 to 8 p.m. Cards are available with a $5 donation, and concessions will be open with food, drinks, and treats. The evening will include a costume contest and prizes. This event is open to the public — family and friends are welcome.
· Pregnancy Care Center of McMinnville will host its annual fundraiser, More Than Imagined: A Harvest of Hope, on Thursday, Oct. 23, at 5:30 p.m. at the Warren County Farmers Market Pavilion, 100 Market St., McMinnville. The evening will include a catered dinner, fellowship, and a silent auction supporting the center’s outreach to local women and families facing unplanned pregnancies or parenting challenges. Tickets are $50 each and may be purchased via Venmo using the QR code on the event flyer (include attendee names in the memo) or in person at the PCC office, 101 Magness Drive, open Monday and Thursday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
· Highlands Elite Real Estate will host a bake sale benefiting NHC Healthcare on Friday, Oct. 24, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 477 North Chancery Street in McMinnville. Homemade treats will be available, with all proceeds supporting residents and programs at NHC Healthcare. This event is open to the public.
· Van Buren County Chamber of Commerce will host its annual Legends by Lantern Tour on Thursday and Friday, Oct. 24–25, beginning at 5 p.m. at the Burritt College Building in Spencer. The guided lantern tours last about 50 minutes and share local legends and spooky tales from Van Buren County’s past. Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for children, and all children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult. Space is limited, and reservations are encouraged. In addition, the Chamber invites members and business owners to take part in the Trail of Treats event on Friday, October 25. Setup begins at 4 p.m., with the trail opening at 5 p.m. There is no cost to host a table, and prizes will be awarded for the most festive display. · West Riverside Church of Christ will host a Ladies Day on Saturday, Oct. 25. The event will focus on the subject “Recipes for Jesus” with guest speaker Amanda Key. The program will begin at 9:30 a.m. and end at 11 a.m., with registration starting at 9 a.m. A lunch will follow the program. West Riverside Church of Christ is located at 101 Bell St., McMinnville. All ladies are invited.
· First Baptist Church of Smartt will host its Fall Festival Saturday, Oct. 25, from 2-6 p.m. at its location at 4907 Manchester Hwy. in Smartt, TN. Everyone is welcome for games, food, prizes and prayers, and encouraged to take care of the photo booth to commemorate the day’s activities.
· Hickory Creek Elementary PTO will host Cruisin’ for the Hawks on Saturday, Oct. 25, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Warren County High School. The car and motorcycle show will feature food and drink vendors, shopping booths, kids’ games, raffle prizes, and awards at 1 p.m. Vehicle entry is $15 for early bird (9:30–10:30 a.m.) or $25 for late entry (10:30–11:30 a.m.), with motorcycle entry at $10 and $20. · McMinnville Young Professionals will host a Halloween Trivia Night Fundraiser on Saturday, Oct. 25, at 6 p.m. at Smooth Rapids, 245 Durham St. Teams can register in advance to compete for prizes while supporting Families in Crisis. Costumes are encouraged, and proceeds will benefit local shelter and support programs. This event is open to the public.
· Local animal rescues will host a special screening of “The Lost Boys” Wednesday, Oct. 29, at Three Star Cinema in McMinnville. Tickets are $5 each, concessions will be available, and proceeds/donations will go to support animal shelters in McMinnville and Warren County.
· The Small Town Truck Meet has been rescheduled for Nov. 8, 2025, at the Van Buren County Fairgrounds. Organized by Ashley Roberts, the event is a fundraiser to support two individuals who were recently injured in an accident. All proceeds will go directly toward their hospital bills and other essential needs. The gathering is expected to include music, food, games, and potentially a burnout pit, pending county approval. Attendees are encouraged to come out and show support for friends and family while enjoying a community-centered celebration of trucks and local spirit.
· Caring Hearts United will present the 15th Annual Wonderland of Trees November 9–15, 2025, at Three Star Mall in McMinnville. Admission is free, and doors will be open daily from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. The charitable event features viewing and silent bidding on fully decorated Christmas trees, wreaths, centerpieces, gingerbread houses, and other donated items. A bake sale and Wonderland Store will also be available, along with live music, dance, and other entertainment throughout the week. Proceeds benefit hospice patients. This event is open to the public.
· On Veterans Day, Nov. 11, the Black History Museum of Warren County will host a presentation by Gary Burke, a Civil War reenactor with the Nashville-based 13th Regiment of the United States Colored Troops (USCT) Living History Association. Twenty-thousand Tennesseans joined the USCT, the second-most of any state after Virginia. Fifteen USCT soldiers won the Medal of Honor. Burke will tell the stories of the USCT and particularly the 13th Regiment, starting at noon at the Magness Library. Refreshments will be served and admission is free. Donations will be accepted.
· The Warren County Rescue Squad’s next country ham breakfast is scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 15. The dining room will be open, and both pickup and delivery will be available by calling 931-473-7023. Call by 6 a.m. for delivery orders, but please give at least one-hour notice for large orders. Breakfast plates are $12, and include ham or sausage, two biscuits, potatoes, scrambled eggs and gravy. Ham biscuits, sausage biscuits and gravy & biscuit will also be available. Proceeds go to help fund the Rescue Squad’s efforts throughout the year.
· Heavenly Closet Thrift Store is open Thursday and Friday from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m., and Saturdays from 8 a.m. until 3 p.m. at 100 Market Street, adjacent to the Farmer’s Market. The organization’s soup kitchen is open Mondays and Fridays, from 11:30 a.m. until noon each day, at 218 E. Main St. Proceeds from the thrift store fund the soup kitchen’s efforts. Volunteers and donations are always accepted. The group is part of the “Helping Hands” ministry.
