As the Frank’s Christmas Shootout came to a close, nine White County basketball players were awarded with All-Tournament honors. The Warriors and Warriorettes both had four individual players named to the All-Tournament team, while Cole Sims was named the Tournament MVP.

Cole Sims named Frank's Christmas Shootout MVP.

Sims' MVP campaign started slowly – for him – on Friday night when he scored 19 points in the Warriors’ 96-70 win over the team from Whitwell. Saturday saw Sims go on a scoring spree as he dropped 31 points through the bucket while White County defeated Liberty Creek by a score of 59-48 to advance to the tournament’s final game. On Monday, Sims came close to matching his weekend performance, scoring 29 points as White County battled it out against Cannon County to take the 56-53 win and the tournament trophy.

Along with Sims, Tucker Pinion, Mason Steele, Lukas Smith, and Jack Carpenter received All-Tournament awards.

While the Warriorettes didn’t pull off a win in the girl’s championship game, they did have four players earn All-Tournament awards. Gracie Clark, Bella Winningham, Lakelyn Grasty, and Ashlyn Selby took home the honors.

While the Warriors will have the rest of the Christmas holidays off, the Warriorettes head to Daytona Beach Dec. 27-30 where they will play in the Sunshine Classic. Both teams will return to Roy Sewell Gymnasium on Friday, Jan. 2, where they will take on Van Buren County.
