Prime parking for a good cause

While admission to the Warren County A&L Fair is free and so is parking, for those who want to save some steps and feel good about themselves in the process, Families in Crisis has just the spot.

The Treasure Chest parking lot located at 261 Fairgrounds Rd. just behind the grandstands has, in the past, been operated by the Exchange Club of McMinnville during fair week but is this year being run by Families in Crisis.

The non-profit‘s mission is to interrupt the cycle of domestic and sexual violence by assisting individuals to gain independence, heal from trauma and empower them to create fulfilling lives for themselves and their families, all while holding offenders accountable.

Parking attendants will be at the lot each day from 2 - 9 p.m. Parking in the lot is $5 and all proceeds go directly to assist Families in Crisis clients.

“The Exchange Club has been so kind to donate proceeds from this parking lot to Families in Crisis for the last several years, so when they needed some help with volunteers last year, we were proud to step up and help,” FIC Executive Director Kristy Stubblefield said. ”This year, they offered us the opportunity to take over the fundraiser lot entirely and we jumped at the chance. We want to thank Exchange Club and The Treasure Chest for this amazing opportunity for raising money. All proceeds raised will go to support our work in the community and we really appreciate every $5.

“We also offer reserved spaces for $75. That equates to less than $10 for each day of the fair. That’s a premium, front-row, guaranteed parking spot all week long. And because we’re a 501(c)(3) non-profit, all donations are tax deductible.” Stubblefield added.
