Regular Season Goes Out With a Bang

With tournament play now on deck, the White County Youth Baseball and Softball League regular season closed Friday night with several one-run games, a showdown between the top teams in Major Boys, and a pair of high-scoring battles in Major Girls.

In Minor Boys, second-place Meeks Construction finished the regular season with an 8-7 victory over Nate Card Construction. The win allowed Meeks to close the year at 8-2, trailing only undefeated Ben Dildine Tru-North in the final standings. Nate Card finished 5-5.

Koala Insulation picked up its second win of the year to end the season, edging Turney Financial 10-9 in another one-run contest. Turney finished the regular season at 4-6, while Koala improved to 2-8.

The night's most dramatic action came in Major Boys, where the division's top two teams both suffered narrow defeats.

Toro Nutrition handed Spar Gas an 8-7 loss, continuing Toro's strong late-season push heading into tournament play. Meanwhile, Sonic dealt Whitson Lawncare its first and only loss of the regular season, escaping with a 9-8 victory in a matchup between the division's top two teams.

Despite the defeat, Whitson Lawncare still completed an impressive regular season atop the standings at 7-1. Sonic's victory pulled the team within striking distance and provided momentum heading into next week's tournament.

In Minor Girls, Franks continued its dominant season with an 8-0 shutout victory over Edd Rogers Valley Ford. The win capped an undefeated regular season for Franks, which finished 9-0 and enters tournament play as the clear favorite after outscoring opponents 84-10 during the regular season.

Uzin Fusion Metalworks also closed the year on a positive note, blanking Powerhouse Powerwash 4-0. The victory gave Uzin Fusion consecutive wins to finish the season.

Major Girls featured the highest-scoring games of the evening.

Robbie Porter outlasted Premier Collision 14-9, while Rocky Pop Co. edged MMG Truck & Trailer Repair 15-14 in a back-and-forth contest that produced 29 total runs.

The win was significant for Rocky Pop, which entered the night sitting fourth in the standings and will carry momentum into tournament play after improving to 3-6. MMG Truck & Trailer Repair, meanwhile, continued searching for its first victory of the season.

With the regular season now complete in several divisions and tournament brackets set to be finalized, attention turns to postseason play, where every team will have a fresh opportunity to chase a championship regardless of its regular-season record.
