Park Theater management continues to add to its varied musical offerings with the recent announcements of two new shows on different ends of the musical spectrum.
Big Gun: A Tribute to AC/DC will be making its return to the Park Theater Saturday, Oct. 24 at 7 p.m. following its last McMinnville show in October 2023. Making his Park Theater debut on Friday, Nov. 13 at 7:30 p.m. will be bluegrass legend Sam Bush.
"These are two very different acts but they've both got big local fan bases, and we've received lots of requests for both," Park Theater Manager Joe Harvey said. "We recently announced these two shows and tickets are on sale now."
Knoxville-based Big Gun was born in late 2001 out of a mutual love for the music of AC/DC and a desire to bring the bombastic performances of the legendary rock band to more audiences. The band consists of Scott Abney as Angus Young, Andy Bowman as Brian Johnson/Bon Scott, Johnny Meyer as Malcolm Young, Mark Kennedy as Cliff Williams, Shannan Uden as Chris Slade and Louis Moore as the bus driver and “sixth member.”
"Big Gun was last here at the Park in late 2023 and they rocked the house," Harvey said. "Everyone had a great time at that show, and we have received numerous requests to bring them back. We're excited we were able to get them on the schedule this year. We're really looking forward to an energetic performance from these great musicians playing all the nostalgic AC/DC hits."
Bush, a bluegrass pioneer and founding member of The Bluegrass Revival, brings serious star power and a lifetime of musical experiences to the Park stage in November. His resume includes four International Bluegrass Music Association Mandolin Player of the Year awards and stints with Emmylou Harris' Nash Ramblers, Lyle Lovett and Bela Fleck and the Flecktones. In 2009 he received the Lifetime Achievement Award for Instrumentalist by the American Music Association.
"Bluegrass has become a staple here at the Park, always bringing in a variety of different crowds," Harvey said. "To have a legend like Sam Bush, who has played with and influenced so many different artists, is going to be a real treat. This is a show that any bluegrass fan, and any music fan in general, will not want to miss."
