Seeds of Hope of Tennessee is inviting the community to take a closer look at the impact being made in downtown Sparta during an Open House this Saturday, February 21, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Seeds of Hope Homeless Shelter, located at 239 King Street.
The event offers the public the opportunity to tour the facility, meet board members, and learn more about the shelter’s mission and future goals. Light refreshments will be served.
According to director Tina Lomax, the shelter’s first year of operation has already made a measurable difference in White County. In just one year, Seeds of Hope has provided 2,995 warm beds and 5,409 meals while serving 102 individuals. In addition to those staying inside the shelter, the outreach program has also served 507 meals to neighbors who are not currently housed.
Lomax said that the she, along with the board of directors, is grateful to the community for its continued support and partnership.
“Our prime purpose in life is to help other's, if you can't help them at the very least dont hurt them,” Lomax said.
Seeds of Hope is currently raising funds for an expansion that would allow the shelter to serve more families with children. As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, donations can be made online at seedsofhopetn.org or by mailing a check to Seeds of Hope, 239 King St., Sparta.
Saturday’s Open House is designed to give the public a firsthand look at how local support is helping neighbors transition out of homelessness, and how the community can continue to be part of that mission moving forward.
