A simple idea—giving people a safe place to walk—has turned into a full-scale community effort at White County High School, thanks to the determination of one student working toward Scouting’s highest honor.

For Adam Shaw, the path to Eagle Scout wasn’t just about completing a project. It was about solving a problem he saw every day.

“Sometimes I help with projects and groups after school, and I see people trying to walk laps around the parking lot while cars are coming and going,” Shaw said. “It looks like a dangerous situation. I thought, if we can clean up the current trail and expand it, it would give them someplace to walk safely and a beautiful walk to enjoy.”
