Fresh produce, homemade baked goods, artisan crafts and live music are all returning to downtown Sparta as the Sparta Green Market kicks off its 2026 season today.

The monthly event, held on the third Friday of each month from May through October, brings together White County-only vendors for an evening focused on local products, community connection and downtown activity. This year’s market includes dozens of vendors offering everything from fresh vegetables and sourdough bread to handmade soaps, leather goods, jams, baked treats, flowers and more.

The Green Market takes place from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m., with many downtown businesses also extending their hours during the event to welcome additional foot traffic into the area.

Once the market wraps up, visitors can continue the evening at the downtown amphitheater where a free Bluegrass concert will begin at 7 p.m.

Among the vendors registered for the 2026 season are Hickory Valley Produce, Plateau Sourdough Co., The Pasta Lab, Laurel Mountain Bakery, Flavorful Fungi, Herel’s Honey, Thorn Farms, Joan’s Jams & Jellies, Ollie Mae’s Sugar Sweets and dozens of other local makers and growers representing White County businesses.

Organizers encourage residents to shop local, meet the vendors behind the products and spend the evening downtown as the seasonal favorite returns for another year.
