Downtown McMinnville will once again be buzzing with runners and patriotic energy as the 44th Annual Stars and Stripes 5K kicks off bright and early Friday, July 4. Sponsored by the Rotary Club of McMinnville, the beloved Independence Day tradition will begin at 7:30 a.m., with same-day registration starting at 6:30 a.m. on Main Street.
Today (June 30) marks the final day to register at the discounted price of $15. Beginning July 1—and including race-day signups—the entry fee will rise to $25. Registration is available online via the QR codes on promotional flyers or by clicking this link.

Participants can expect the familiar, challenging route that winds through downtown and into Westwood, before finishing near the courthouse square. The event welcomes all paces—from seasoned runners to casual walkers and festive families in red, white and blue.
While three-time champ Riley Harris has set a high bar in previous years, a new winner will be crowned in 2025. Harris, a Seattle resident who has came to town with his wife - a Warren County native - the last three years, will not return this year to defend his title, leaving the door open for new contenders.
In the women’s division, longtime standout Anne Hunter Myers is expected to return to action. Myers, who has claimed 11 titles over the years, returned from injury in 2024 to reclaim her crown and could add another if she lines up next week. Monica Moore, who narrowly finished behind Myers last year, could also factor into the finish.
The event will also feature a one-mile Kids Run, which has become a favorite among young competitors and families. Last year’s participants ranged from 4 to over 80 years old, proving the event’s wide appeal and commitment to community fun.
Whether you’re chasing a personal best or just want a festive morning workout before enjoying cookouts and fireworks, the Stars and Stripes 5K is the perfect way to kick off the Fourth of July. For more information, results and photos after the race, subscribe to the Main Street Journal.
