Warren County Schools’ summer feeding program officially begins Thursday, with free meals available for children across the county through the district’s Summer Food Program.
The program, operated by the Warren County Schools nutrition department, provides free meals to all children under the age of 18, regardless of whether they are enrolled in Warren County Schools.
Families who previously signed up for the weekly pickup option can begin receiving meals Thursday, May 28. Participants will receive a seven-day supply of breakfast and lunch during each pickup.
Meal distribution will take place Thursdays from 9:30 a.m. until 2 p.m. at West Elementary School throughout June and July and at Warren County Middle School during June.
In addition to the pickup program, students participating in summer school or other on-site programs will receive free breakfast and lunch each day they attend. Those students will also receive a three-day supply of breakfast and lunch on Thursdays to help cover weekend meals.
School officials say the program is designed to help ensure children continue receiving nutritious meals while school is not in session for the summer.
