Veterans Day was re-named from the original Armistice Day, first observed Nov. 11, 1919, exactly one year after the official cessation of hostilities in The Great War, also known as World War I.
Keeping the peace and safeguarding law and order require constant vigilance, backed by military defense that remains robust, ready and undoubted in power and resolve.
With Veterans Day coming up Wednesday, Nov. 11, three retired members of the US military joined in a WCPI conversation on the deep, abiding sense of patriotic duty and commitment according to law. The half-hour conversation airs tomorrow, Nov. 4, with a repeat Saturday, Nov. 7 at 9 a.m. both days on McMinnville Public Radio 91.3-WCPI.
