Warriorettes battle Cumberland County in five-set match

White County and Cumberland County needed all five sets to decide Monday night's match, with the Warriorettes battling back to force a deciding set before coming up just short on their home court.

White County started the night with a 25-22 win, giving the Warriorettes the early advantage on their home court. The Lady Jets answered in the second, taking the set 25-17 to even the match.

Things got away from White County in the third as Cumberland County rolled to a 25-6 win and moved within one set of closing out the match.

But the Warriorettes weren't finished.

White County responded with one of its strongest sets of the night, taking the fourth 25-19 and sending the match to a deciding fifth set. The Warriorettes stayed within striking distance, but Cumberland County was able to close out the 15-11 win to take the match 3-2.

AB Stebing led White County with 12 kills, while Ashlyn Selby was right behind her with 11 as the pair combined for 23 on the night. Stebing also added an ace and two digs, while Selby finished with four digs and a block.

The Warriorettes got seven kills from Mallori Swindell, who added five digs and 15 assists. Miah Swindell matched her with 15 assists of her own and recorded a pair of digs.

Madison Henry and Lanie Nakktgeboren each finished with three kill and made their presence felt with four blocks apiece. Kaylin Cunningham led White County's defense with 10 digs.
