White County made it clear early Tuesday night it was going to be a long evening for Trousdale County.

Fourteen different Warriorettes found the basket as White County rolled to an 85-42 victory, blowing the game open with a blistering first half that left the Yellowjackets scrambling from the opening tip.

The Warriorettes got off to a fast start scoring 28 points in the first quarter alone and then adding another 26 in the second. The Yellowjackets were on their heels for the entire first half as they just couldn’t keep up with White County. Trousdale managed just eight points in the first quarter and 10 in the second to find themselves down by 26 points at halftime.

Some adjustments by Trousdale County, along with White County going to their bench for the start of the second half, saw the Yellowjackets outscore the Warriorettes 18-12 in third quarter. However, White County regrouped and refocused in the fourth to cap another blowout.

The Warriorettes are now 10-0 overall, another solid start for a group many project to be one of the top contenders in 3A basketball.

Kylie Norris was the top scorer with 15 points, nine of which came from behind the arc. Bella Winningham and Gracie Clark both hit double-digit scoring as well, tallying 11 and 10 points, respectively. Kalee Sanders came off the bench to record eight points, thanks in part to a pair of three-point buckets.

Kyra Fox, Ashlyn Selby and Lakelyn Grasty each scored six points while Miah Swindell added five more. Cassidy Reed and Teagan Angell scored four points apiece, and senior Kylie Norvell sank the only shot she took – a three-point bucket. Rounding out the scoring was Sarah Winfree with three, while Saydie Carpenter and Sarah Peek each put two points on White County’s scoreboard.

The Warriorettes made it a team effort, not just in scoring, but in every aspect of the game. They recorded 17 assists and 37 rebounds, with no single Warriorette snagging more than five and 12 managing to pull at least one down off the boards. Ten White County basketball players recorded at least one steal as the Warriorettes took the ball away from the Yellowjackets 20 times.

White County will be in action this weekend as they host the Frank’s Christmas Tournament at Roy Sewell Gymnasium with the Warriorettes first game scheduled for 7 p.m. Friday.
