White County’s season came down to a fifth set Monday night.

Actually, it came down to a fifth set twice.

The Warriorettes opened the District 7-3A tournament with a five-set victory over LaVergne, earning the chance to play on later in the day. Their second match went the distance as well, but this time it was Warren County that came away with the win, ending White County’s season with a 13-18 overall record after going 12-17 in the regular season and 1-1 in the postseason.

Against LaVergne, the Warriorettes had to play from behind early. They dropped the opening set 25-19 before answering with a 25-17 win in the second.

LaVergne regained the advantage with a 26-24 win in a close third set, putting White County one set away from elimination.

The Warriorettes responded with their most decisive set of the match.

White County rolled to a 25-15 victory in the fourth to force a fifth set, then carried that momentum into the tiebreaker. The Warriorettes took the final set 15-8 to complete the comeback and advance to the next round.

Their second match started much differently.

White County jumped in front of Warren County with wins of 25-17 and 25-21 in the first two sets, leaving the Warriorettes needing just one more to advance.

The Lady Pioneers refused to go away.

Warren County controlled the third set, 25-10, then edged White County 25-23 in the fourth to erase the Warriorettes’ two-set advantage and force another winner-take-all fifth set. This time, it was Warren County that finished the job, taking the deciding set 15-10 and bringing White County’s season to an end.

The loss left the Warriorettes with a 13-18 overall record, but that final number also shows the progress White County made over the course of the season. A year ago, the Warriorettes finished 4-13. This season, they tripled their regular-season win total before adding another victory in the district tournament.

There was improvement inside the district as well. White County went 7-7 in regular-season district play after finishing 4-10 against district opponents a year ago.

The Warriorettes may have left the district tournament one set short of moving on, but they also left the 2026 season with nine more wins than they had a year ago — evidence that the program took a significant step forward under the direction of new head coach Courtney Farr.
