A day later than planned, the White County Middle School Warriorettes opened their season with authority on Tuesday, February 24, after snow and freezing temperatures pushed the matchup at Cumberland County Middle School back 24 hours. The delay didn’t cool off the Warriorettes’ bats, as they powered their way to a 14–2 win in four innings.

Kambrie Tayes set the tone in the circle as the winning pitcher, recording three strikeouts while allowing just two hits and no earned runs. She was relieved by Bella Madden, who stepped in to finish the job with one strikeout, one walk, and no hits or earned runs allowed.

Offensively, White County delivered steady pressure from the start. Paizlee Taylor led the charge with a perfect 3-for-3 day, driving in two runs, scoring twice, and launching the team’s lone home run. Bella Rosell-Diaz matched her with a 3-for-3 performance of her own, collecting two doubles, a single, three RBI, and two runs.

Carli Goines went 2-for-3 with a single and a double, while Dreu Segraves added a double and crossed the plate twice. Addie Finley drove in two with a double, and Kinsley Randall added an RBI double as the Warriorettes continued to pile on the scoring opportunities. Josslyn Wright contributed an RBI single, and both Izzy Sherman and Harper Pelfrey added base hits of their own.

After the win, head coach Gregg Segraves expressed optimism about what lies ahead for this group, saying, This team has a chance to be really good. We have a lot of work to do and a lot of things to clean up, but if they work hard and play for each other, they will be very competitive!”
