The White County Warriorettes played host to Hillsboro Saturday afternoon and had no problem keeping their undefeated record intact, defeating the Burros 63-47.
The Warriorettes established their dominance right from the start with Gracie Clark stealing the tip and Ashlyn Selby putting a nice layup in the bucket. The Burros looked to make the game interesting, going back and forth with the Warriorettes in the first quarter, but White County held a comfortable 5-point lead at the first buzzer.
It was all White County in quarters two and three as the Warriorettes cruised to a 27-18 lead by halftime. Coming out of the locker room to start the second half of the game, White County picked up right where it left off and outscored Hillsboro 18-9 in the third quarter to extend its lead to 45-27 to start the fourth quarter.
The Warriorettes backed off in the fourth quarter, which opened the door for the Burros to drop some baskets and close the gap. Hillsboro outscored White County by two in the final frame, but it wasn’t close to enough to erase the deficit they had as the Warriorettes extended their win streak to nine straight games.
Selby had a double-double, dropping 16 points in the win while pulling 11 rebounds. Clark, who has been a scoring machine so far this season, scored 24 while grabbing nine boards herself and notching her third straight 20-plus point performance. Bella Winningham also saw double-digit scoring on Saturday as she netted 17 points while snagging 5 rebounds along with five steals. Lakelyn Grasty added four while Kyra Fox and Kylie Norris each sank one from the foul line to round out White County’s scoring for the afternoon.
The Warriorettes will tip off the Frank’s Christmas Tournament on Thursday when they face Southwind at 7 p.m.
