Freshmen lead Warriors at Tree City XC Invitational

White County’s cross country teams came away from Saturday’s Tree City XC Invitational with several season and personal bests, including another strong showing from a young group leading the Warriors this season.

The meet, held at Warren County High School in McMinnville, brought together runners from more than 35 schools for varsity and junior varsity competition on a 5K course that wound through the WCHS campus.

Kolt Pryor once again led White County in the varsity boys race, crossing the finish line in 21:25.4. Freshman Logan Allen was next for the Warriors, setting a new personal record with a time of 21:51.3, while Isaac Williams followed closely at 22:02.6.

The Warriors’ top four finishers were all freshmen, with Luke Benson completing that group in 23:57.0. Michael Smith finished in 24:07.5, Hunter Rigsby recorded a time of 24:58.6, and Lincoln Kugler crossed in 25:38.8.

Jubilee Kugler represented White County in the varsity girls race, completing the course in 29:19.7.

The Warriorettes also had four runners in the JV race. Elizabeth Gilbert led the group with a time of 30:26.4, followed by Treeah Powell at 35:35.8, Lillie Willis at 36:14.2, and Charlotte Lee at 38:56.3.

Aaron Most competed for White County in the boys JV race, finishing in 31:21.4.

Along with Allen’s personal record, coach Terry Meece said Hunter Rigsby, Lincoln Kugler, William Martinez, Jubilee Kugler, Treeah Powell, and Lillie Willis recorded season personal bests at the meet.

White County will have a break from competition while using the cooler weather to focus on conditioning. The team has added a meet at York Institute on Oct. 20, which is scheduled to be its next competition.
