The White County Middle School golf teams turned in a solid showing Monday at Algood, with the Warriorettes taking the team win and the Warriors finishing third in a competitive field.
On the girls’ side, White County posted a 77 to edge Algood (83) and Stone Memorial (113). It was another strong outing for Piper Heady, who continued her consistent run at the top with a 35 to earn medalist honors. Ava Elrod followed with a 42, good for third overall, while Rowan Hutson added a 49 to round out the scoring.
Heady continues to steadily set the pace for the Warriorettes, while Elrod is giving White County a reliable second score in the lineup.
For the boys, White County finished third with a team score of 180 behind Algood (152) and Stone Memorial (166). Stone Whitson once again led the Warriors, turning in a 42 — his second straight match as the team’s low scorer despite being just a sixth grader.
Gage Evans and Gonnor DeLong each carded a 44, giving White County a pair of steady rounds in the middle of the lineup. Benji Johnson finished with a 50, and Kyson Taylor added a 52 to complete the team score.
While the team result didn’t land where the Warriors wanted, there were signs of progress, particularly with Whitson’s continued consistency and multiple golfers hovering in the mid-40s range.
White County will be back on its home course Thursday, hosting Prescott and Upperman.
