The White County Middle School Warriorettes picked up another win Thursday night, defeating Algood 8-3.
White County jumped out to an early lead in the bottom of the first inning thanks to Paizlee Taylor. Taylor ripped a two-RBI double to put the Warriorettes on the board and then immediately applied pressure on the basepaths. After stealing third on the next pitch, she remained aggressive and tagged up on a deep fly ball to right field, beating the throw back to the infield to give White County a 3-0 lead.
Algood answered in the top of the second inning, plating three runs of their own to even the score at 3-3. The tie would hold until the bottom of the third when the Warriorettes regained control of the game.
Josslyn Wright delivered a key two-RBI double to put White County back in front. Moments later, Cali Goines lined a hard-hit single that allowed Wright to score, stretching the Warriorettes’ lead to 6-3.
White County added two more runs in the fourth inning to provide some insurance. Algood threatened to create some offense in the top of the fifth, but the Warriorettes shut the door before another run could cross the plate.
Kambrie Tayes got the start in the circle for White County, pitching two innings. Tayes allowed three earned runs on eight hits while walking one and striking out one.
Taylor returned to the circle and earned the win, tossing the final three innings while allowing just one hit and one walk. She struck out five to close out the 8-3 victory for the Warriorettes.
