It didn’t take long for White County Middle School softball to take control Friday night. The Warriorettes picked up their fourth win of the week, rolling to a 10-3 victory over the Overton County Lady Cats in a game that was decided in just four innings.

The Warriorettes looked poised to strike early, loading the bases in the first inning, but couldn’t push a run across. Overton County took advantage in the second, stringing together a pair of singles — including an infield hit — to get on the board. A double and a White County error followed, and just like that, the Warriorettes found themselves trailing 3-0.

That deficit didn’t last long.

White County answered in the bottom half of the inning with a surge that flipped the game. Kinsley Randall led things off with a single before Carli Goines doubled to bring her home. Back-to-back walks from Dreu Segraves and Bianca Villano loaded the bases, setting the stage for Addison Finley, who delivered in a big way. Finley ripped a line-drive double to center field, clearing the bases and giving the Warriorettes a 4-3 lead.

The momentum kept building. Paizlee Taylor drew a walk, and Bella Rosell-Diaz followed with a deep drive to center that resulted in a two-RBI double. After a walk to Josslyn Wright and a passed ball moved runners into scoring position, Randall lifted a deep fly ball to left that allowed Rosell-Diaz to tag and score. Goines capped the inning with another double, bringing Wright home and stretching the lead to 8-3.

In the circle, Bella Madden settled in. She needed just 15 pitches in the third inning and struck out the side without allowing Overton County to even make contact.

White County added two more runs in the bottom of the third to create even more separation. Villano reached on an error to open the inning, and Finley stayed hot with another RBI double — her fourth RBI of the night. Taylor’s groundout moved Finley to third, and Rosell-Diaz brought her home with a deep fly ball to left, pushing the lead to 10-3.

Overton County threatened briefly in the fourth, leading off with a triple. But when a passed ball gave the runner a chance to score, Randall recovered quickly and threw her out at the plate with Madden there to apply the tag. Three walks loaded the bases later in the inning, but a strikeout and a groundout ended the threat and sealed the win.

Madden earned the victory with a complete four-inning effort, allowing three runs on five hits while striking out seven. She threw 50 strikes against 20 batters faced.

The win capped a perfect 4-0 week for the Warriorettes, who improved to 17-3 heading into the final stretch of the regular season. White County will be back on the road Monday at Warren County before returning home to close out the season with a two-game homestand.
