The White County Archery team is off to a strong start with a couple of team trophies and 12 individual archers earning medals over the weekend.
All three Warrior Archery teams - high school, middle school and elementary – travelled to Cookeville this past weekend to shoot in a tournament at Prescott. The Warriors placed first in the high school division. In addition, Justin Canon placed first out of all male high school athletes while Brodey Menard took the fourth-place medal. On the girls’ side, Alexis Jones came in second, Rayus Adams took third and Leaah Paul was fourth out of all female high school athletes.
In the middle school shoot, the Warriors had two individual archers win medals. Sami Benson was the best overall female archer while Tuck Seibers took third out of all middle school male archers. Overall, the White County Middle School placed third in their division.
While the Warriors’ elementary team didn’t take home an overall trophy, they did have five archers win individual medals. Hailey Rigsby shot well enough to earn fourth place in the girls’ competition. White County swept the top four spots in the boys’ division with Ryker Williams getting the first-place medal. Oliver Zuber placed right behind Williams, while Zane Copeland took third place, and Tucker Phillips was fourth.
The White County Archery teams are on break for the holidays but will be back in action in January. The Warrior 3D teams will participate at Stewart’s Creek in Murfreesboro on Jan. 9. All teams will return to Prescott for another tournament on Jan. 10.
