The White County High School golf teams kept their winning ways going Thursday afternoon, sweeping a three-team match against Livingston Academy and Pickett County at Sparta Country Club.

Both White County teams won comfortably, with the Warriorettes finishing 33 strokes ahead of the field and the Warriors putting together one of their strongest team scores of the season.

On the girls’ side, White County finished with a 143, well ahead of Livingston Academy’s 176 and Pickett County’s 198.

Freshman Ava Elrod led the entire field with a 70, while Piper Heady and Lenzie Golden each carded a 73. With only two scores counting toward the team total, one of the matching 73s went into the official team score.

Rowan Hutson rounded out the White County lineup with a 106.

Livingston Academy was led by Gabbie Sells with an 83, followed by Addison Wilson at 93. Emma Tompkins posted Pickett County’s best round with a 92.

The Warriors were just as dominant in the boys’ competition.

White County posted a 294 to finish 39 strokes ahead of Pickett County’s 333, while Livingston Academy finished at 369.

Lucas Phillips and Logan Holland shared medalist honors, each firing a 69 to give White County the two best rounds of the day. Jack Carpenter and Tripp Tollison followed with matching 78s, giving the Warriors four counting scores below 80.

Lane Dickerson finished with an 86. His round did not factor into White County’s team score, but it was still better than eight of the 12 golfers competing for Livingston Academy and Pickett County.

The sweep comes just two days after both White County teams picked up wins over Warren County, giving the Warriors and Warriorettes two victories apiece this week.

White County will be back on the course Tuesday when the Warriors and Warriorettes travel to Cookeville to take on the Cavaliers at Golden Eagle Golf Club.
