A unanimous vote locks in more than 100 acres for agricultural use — but the final agreement will carry strict conditions tied to the donor’s wishes.
The White County Commission moved Monday night to secure a piece of land that won’t be up for sale anytime soon — or ever.
In a unanimous vote, commissioners approved a resolution to accept the donation of more than 100 acres, with the understanding that the property will be permanently preserved for agricultural use. The agreement, still being finalized, is expected to include strict covenants to ensure the land remains undeveloped and cared for according to the donor’s wishes.
