The White County Middle School Warriorettes were back in action Monday night, and their bats didn’t take long to get going. A 13-hit performance over three innings powered White County to a 14-2 win over Upperman.

The opening inning didn’t hint at what was to come. Upperman used two walks and a single to push across a pair of runs in the top half, and White County managed just one in response. Bianca Villano led off with a single and later scored on a line-drive double to center field from Bella Rosell-Diaz, but the Warriorettes still trailed heading into the second.

That’s where everything flipped.

White County retired Upperman in order to open the second inning, then quickly took control at the plate. Carli Goines sparked the rally with a double, and after Sofia Austin and Dreu Segraves reached on errors — the second bringing Goines home — the offense kept rolling. Villano delivered a two-RBI single, and Paizlee Taylor followed with a deep fly ball to left that brought another run across. By the end of the inning, White County had turned a deficit into a 5-2 lead.

The third inning put the game out of reach.

Upperman managed to get two runners aboard but couldn’t capitalize, with one runner caught trying to steal third to end the threat. White County, meanwhile, kept the pressure on.

Josslyn Wright drew a leadoff walk and came around to score on a hard ground ball from Goines that resulted in an error. Austin followed with an RBI single, and base hits from Segraves and Villano loaded the bases. Addison Finley lifted a fly ball that fell in, allowing two more runs to score.

The Warriorettes weren’t done yet.

Taylor added an RBI single, Kinsley Randall drove in another with a hard shot to center, and Wright reached again with a base hit. Randall later scored on a sharp line drive from Goines, and Segraves capped the scoring with a sacrifice fly to push the total to 14.

Taylor also handled the work in the circle, pitching all three innings. She faced 13 batters, allowing two runs on three hits while walking two and striking out four. Of her 45 pitches, 30 were strikes.

The win marks five victories in the last seven games for White County, which will look to keep that momentum going tonight on the road at Livingston.
