The White County Sheriff’s Office unveiled its new Digital Siren App during a recent presentation to the Rotary Club of Sparta, explaining that it was a major step forward in community safety and emergency awareness. Sheriff Steve Page said the department began searching for enhanced safety tools after two tragic incidents in neighboring counties underscored how quickly emergency situations can turn deadly.

In one Warren County case, a fleeing felon struck a woman head-on while traveling more than 100 miles per hour, killing her instantly. In Cookeville, a woman and two children died during a Tennessee Highway Patrol pursuit.

“My goal is to make White County safer,” Page told club members, explaining that in many emergencies “motorists can’t hear sirens in time to react safely.”
