The White County High School track and field team was back in action Thursday afternoon, competing in a full field at the Cookeville High School meet.
The Warriors and Warriorettes spread entries across the schedule, competing in sprints, distance races, relays, and field events as they continue working through the early part of the season.
White County saw a few athletes work their way into the top portion of their events. Isaac Littles turned in one of the stronger finishes of the day with a jump of 20-3.5 in the long jump, placing him third in that event. On the girls side, Miya League posted a mark of 13-9.25 in the long jump, good enough for a fifth place spot.
In the distance events, Kayce Wright continued to log solid times, including a fourth place finish in the 800 meter distance with a time of 2:41.72. Wright found herself in the medal group with third place finishes in both the 1600 and 3200 meter distances as well. Several other Warriorettes, including Natalie Wilson and Arianna Knupp, added distance times as White County continued to build depth in those events.
In the relay events, all three White County teams had solid perfomances. The boys 4x100 finished with a time of 47.82 to place sixth out of. The girls 4x800 grabbed a bronze medal with a time of 11:42.66 while the 4x100 finished in fifth with a time of 54.91.
The meet at Cookeville featured a large number of teams giving White County athletes a chance to see where they stack up while continuing to log times and marks across multiple events - something that becomes more important as teams begin to settle into their roles later in the season.
White County will be back in Cookeville for another meet on Tuesday, April 14.
