Warriorettes fall to Cookeville in three sets

White County High School’s volleyball team came up short Monday night as Cookeville swept the Warriorettes in three sets.

The Lady Cavs took the opening set 25-12 before White County made things closer in the second. Cookeville won that set 25-19 and completed the sweep with a 25-17 victory in the third.

Alli Beth Stebbing led White County at the net with three kills while also recording a team-high 10 digs.

Ashlyn Selby contributed across the stat sheet with two aces, two blocks, one kill and two digs. Miah Jo Swindell finished with three aces, three assists and a dig, while Mallori Swindell recorded seven assists, an ace, a kill and three digs.

The loss came after a stretch in which White County had been tested in a pair of very different matches. The Warriorettes went five sets with Cumberland County before falling 3-2, then bounced back with a three-set victory over LaVergne last week.

White County now heads into one of its busiest stretches of the season with three straight days of volleyball later this week.

The Warriorettes will host Warren County on Thursday before traveling to Upperman for a daytime match Friday. They return home Saturday to host the Lynn Cannon Volleyball Tournament.
