Same story, different ending

White County had to battle back more than once Thursday night, but the Warriorettes had the answer when they needed it most.

It took all five sets, but the White County High School Warriorettes came out on top Thursday night, picking up a home win over Warren County.

The night started with a close one as the Lady Pioneers edged White County 25-22 in the opening set. The Warriorettes came back strong in the second, winning 25-18 to even things up, only to see Warren County turn around and take the third by a nearly identical 25-17 score.

That left White County with no room for another loss, and the Warriorettes made sure there would be a fifth set. They put together a big fourth, winning 25-19 and giving themselves one more shot at the match.

The fifth was every bit as close as the first, but this time it was White County finishing on top. The Warriorettes took the deciding set 15-12 to finish off the 3-2 win.

Mallori Swindell put together a big all-around night with 32 assists, seven kills, seven aces and six digs. Maddison Henry finished with four kills and four blocks, while Miah Jo Swindell recorded a team-high 16 digs along with one kill. Rhaleigh Cloyd added 11 assists, two digs and an ace.

The win moves White County to 3-6 on the season and gives the Warriorettes some momentum heading into a packed stretch of their schedule.

White County is back on the court today for a school-day match at Upperman beginning at 1:30 p.m. The Warriorettes then return home Saturday to host the Lynn Cannon Volleyball Tournament at Roy Sewell Gymnasium before playing three more matches next week.
