The White County High School Warriorettes suffered their second loss of the week, falling 13-1 on the road to Clay County.

Clay County set the tone early, scoring eight runs in the bottom of the first inning. Five hits and a walk allowed the Lady Bulldogs to push five runs across the plate before the Warriorettes were able to record their first out. Two more base hits and a White County error brought in three additional runs before the inning finally came to an end.

White County answered with its only run of the game in the top of the second inning. A hard-hit infield single by Anna McCulley drove in Jada Wright to put the Warriorettes on the board. However, White County left the bases loaded in the inning, and that would prove to be the team’s only offensive threat of the night.

After that frame, the Warriorettes managed just one more base runner the rest of the game. Clay County continued to add to its lead with one run in the second inning, three more in the third, and another in the fourth.

Mabry Taylor took the loss for White County. She faced 29 batters over 3.2 innings, allowing 13 runs — seven of them earned — on 12 hits. Taylor walked one and struck out two.

White County finished with four hits. Addie Norvell led the Warriorettes with two singles, while McCulley and AK Wallace each recorded a hit.

The Warriorettes will look to get in the in column tonight when they travel to Monterey for a matchup with the Wildcats at 5:3o p.m.
