McMinnville resident and Warren County native William Melban "Bill" Cathcart, 78, was born Dec. 21, 1947 and died Feb. 16, 2026 at his residence following an extended illness.

A retired mechanical engineer of thirty-eight-and-a-half years with AEDC and farmer and a member of the Church of Christ at Saint Mary's, he was the son of the late William Henry "Will H." and Melba Clendenon Cathcart. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brother, Dennis and brother-in-law, Don Robbins.

He was married on Dec. 19, 1970 to Paula Cathcart of McMinnville who survives. In addition to his wife, he is survived by sons, William Luther Cathcart, Paul Livy (Susan) Cathcart and Robert (Michelle) Cathcart, all of McMinnville; grandchildren, Callie (Dalton) Davis, Kenley (Eli) Randolph and Lilly, Sam and Emma Cathcart; great-grandchildren, Elora Kay Davis and Georgia Ann Davis; brother, Tom (Carol) Cathcart; sister, Janie Robbins; nephews, James (Heather) Robbins, Alex (Misha) Cathcart, Ian (Crystal) Cathcart, Curt (Lisa) Cathcart and Brian (Ashley) Cathcart and niece, Julia (Chris) Rhoady.

Memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 21, 2026 in High’s Chapel. Visitation will be Saturday from 10 a.m. until time of service at High’s.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice.
