  • Upper Cumberland Cards will return to Warren County High School’s Charlie Dalton Gymnasium for its monthly card show Saturday, Oct. 10, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Held on the second Saturday of each month, the show features approximately 100 tables filled with sports and Pokémon cards, memorabilia and other collectibles, including toys and comics. Proceeds from the event benefit WCHS athletics.
  • The Tennessee Environmental Council will host a free Recycling Roundup on Saturday, Oct. 10, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Warren County Sanitation Department, 1186 Belmont Dr. The drive-through event will accept hard-to-recycle materials including electronics, tires, Styrofoam, mattresses, glass bottles, medical supplies and eyeglasses, with secure paper shredding also available. The event is free and open to the public, with suggested donations of $10-$20. Volunteers are also welcome to assist with the event.

  • The Warren County Republican Party will host its annual Ben Nixon Memorial Chili Cook-Off on Thursday, Oct. 15, at the Westwood Church of Christ Gymnasium on 511 Morrison St. Doors open to contestants at 5 p.m. and the public at 5:30 p.m., with judging beginning at 6 p.m. Admission is $10 per person. Contestants will compete in Traditional Chili, Nontraditional Chili and Wild Card categories for $100 prizes, with attendees also selecting a $100 People's Choice winner.   • The Rock Island Community Center will host a Fall Harvest Festival and Hayride on Saturday, Oct. 24, beginning at 5 p.m. at 2886 Pine Bluff Rd. The family-friendly event will feature a hayride, games, caramel apples, funnel cakes and hot dogs.
  • The McMinnville-Warren County Chamber of Commerce will hold a ribbon cutting for CM Fencing Company on Monday, Oct. 26, at 11:30 a.m. in the Chamber Community Room, 110 S. Court Square.
  • Heavenly Closet Thrift Store is open Thursday and Friday from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m., and Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 100 Market St, adjacent to the Farmer’s Market. The organization’s soup kitchen is open Mondays and Fridays, from 11:30 a.m. until noon each day, at 218 E Main St. Proceeds from the thrift store fund the soup kitchen’s efforts. Volunteers and donations are always accepted. The group is part of the “Helping Hands” ministry.
