The early Warren County 6–8 grade boys basketball standings are being defined not by blowouts, but by who can execute when the margins are razor thin. Between Dec. 8–11, multiple games came down to a single possession, clutch free throws or one defensive stop, separating the teams chasing the top from those still searching for their first breakthrough. Every night felt like a measuring stick, and every mistake carried weight.
Centertown’s ability to close out a tense road battle at Morrison underscored why the Warriors sit alone at the top of the standings. The unbeaten showdown featured momentum swings, late free throws and a fourth quarter where one basket made the difference. Eastside’s dramatic comeback win over Boyd in a day game showed how quickly the standings can shift when a team finds belief late, while Morrison’s earlier narrow escape earlier in the week against the Bulldogs proved the Eagles’ composure in pressure moments. Even in losses, teams like Boyd and Irving College showed flashes that suggest the race behind the Warriors is far from settled.
Those tight finishes are already carving out the early hierarchy, but they’re also a warning. In this league, no lead is safe, no matchup is easy and no night is guaranteed. With that tone set, these Players of the Week are the athletes who stepped forward in those defining moments and helped shape the opening chapter of the season.
The Main Street Journal is proud to recognize the standouts who rose to the moment during this four-day stretch of county action. The 6-8 grade boys Players of the Week are presented by Kevin Rhoton at SouthPoint Risk, Cole Taylor Lawn Care, M&M Farms, McCorkle Landscaping and Crisp Springs Fireworks.

BOYD – NOLAN KEELE
Keele continues to be a rugged, reliable presence for the Broncos, thriving in the middle of physical games. The wing isn’t afraid to battle in the paint, rebound in traffic or step up at the free-throw line in pressure moments. His toughness and versatility were on full display during Boyd’s competitive stretch, giving the Broncos an edge beyond the scoring column.

CENTERTOWN – EASTON COTTEN
Cotten delivered one of the defining performances of the week in Centertown’s road win at Morrison, knocking down three second-quarter 3-pointers that completely shifted momentum. He finished with 13 points, then helped close the game at the line as the Warriors stayed perfect. His shooting and composure were central to Centertown’s continued dominance.

DIBRELL – KENDAL WOMACK
Womack led the Wildcats in their convincing win over Irving College, scoring 14 points and setting the tone early as Dibrell steadily pulled away. His scoring touch and consistency helped power a balanced attack that showcased just how deep the Wildcats can be when everything is clicking.

EASTSIDE – MAKS YOUNG
Young was the catalyst in Eastside’s thrilling comeback win over Boyd, pouring in a game-high 16 points and delivering several key buckets in the fourth quarter. His physical play inside and confidence late fueled a decisive run that turned the game and marked one of the Bulldogs’ biggest wins of the season.

IRVING COLLEGE – ALLEN SNIDER
Snider continues to carve out a vital role for the Tigers with his toughness on the defensive end while expanding his offensive impact. Known first for his defensive grit, Snider has begun knocking down timely spot-up shots, giving Irving College added spacing and reliability against aggressive defenses.

MORRISON – DALLAS CAGLE
Cagle’s Swiss Army Knife skill set makes him indispensable for the Eagles. Whether it’s defending multiple positions, hitting timely shots or making smart decisions with the ball, he fills whatever role is needed. His steady presence on both ends helped Morrison navigate a challenging week and remain a factor near the top of the standings.
