My name is Edward Newport, and Sparta has been home to me for nearly my entire life. I’m an ordinary man with a strong work ethic and a deep love for this community, and that’s exactly why I’m running for County Commissioner.

For the past eight and a half years, I’ve worked at Dometic Marine, and before that I spent my life right here alongside the people of White County. I know what it’s like to work hard, stretch a dollar, and wonder if things are ever going to get easier. I’ve lived paycheck to paycheck, and I haven’t forgotten what that feels like.

Family means everything to me. I’ve been blessed to be married to my wonderful wife for 34 years. Together we raised two children, our daughter Jasmine and our son Allen. Allen and his wife Whitney have been married for nine and a half years and have given us three grandsons—Axl, Ozzy, and Eli. Those boys are a big part of why I care so deeply about the future of this county.

I’m not a politician. I’m just a man who wants to make sure people like us have a real voice at the table. If elected, I promise to keep the people of my district informed about what’s happening in county government, to truly listen to your concerns, and to fight to keep taxes from going up. I also want to see our roads fixed, because our families deserve safe and reliable roads.

I believe in honoring the values that have always made White County strong while also working to build a better tomorrow. That’s why my campaign is Focused on the Future—making sure our county remains a place where families can live, work, and thrive for generations to come.
