The action keeps heating up across Warren County’s 3–5 grade girls basketball league as teams passed the midway point of the season, and this past week may have been the best yet. Hickory Creek continued to look unstoppable, powering past District 2 leader Dibrell Thursday in what felt like a possible county championship preview, while Morrison found its stride behind a monster performance from Kinsley Jones Thursday at Bobby Ray. West also pulled out a pair of tight wins to climb above .500, and Bobby Ray, Irving College and Eastside all showed flashes of progress as young stars keep emerging.
It’s the kind of week that reminds everyone why this league has become one of the best shows in town - talented kids, packed gyms and plenty of storylines. From breakout scorers to defensive standouts, several players made their mark and helped their teams shine when it mattered most. Boyd still paces the league with a 7-0 record, but the Lady Broncos were off last week for fall break.
Hickory Creek climbed closer in the overall rankings with an unblemished 6-0 record, while Dibrell (5-2 overall, 3-0 in District 2) continues to impress on the hardwood.

Here are this week’s honorees in the girls’ league for their season contributions to their squads:

Devyn Gennings – Bobby Ray Lady Stars
It’s been a growing season for the Lady Stars, who continue to play with heart and effort each night. Gennings has been one of the bright spots, getting on the board this week and showing the type of improvement that has Bobby Ray’s coaches excited about the future. Her energy and toughness are helping set the foundation for years to come.

Oly Cathcart – Boyd Lady Broncos
Cathcart has been a steady force all season for the 7-0 Lady Broncos, a team that hasn’t missed a beat thanks to her defense, court IQ and timely passing and scoring. Even after a week off, Cathcart and her teammates are staying sharp — she’s also shined in out-of-county competition, helping Boyd pick up five additional wins beyond the WC league schedule.

Sadie Clark – Centertown Lady Warriors
The Lady Warriors were off for fall break, but they’ll return well-rested and ready to rely on Clark — a dominant post who gives Centertown size, scoring and leadership in the paint. Her presence will be key as Centertown makes its push toward the postseason.

Brixlynn Cantrell – Dibrell Lady Wildcats
Cantrell’s defensive intensity has been a difference-maker for Dibrell. She rarely shows up atop the scoring list, but her ability to pressure guards and take on any assignment has been a big reason the Lady Wildcats sit atop the District 2 standings. Her relentless style gives Dibrell an edge every night.

Haven Hicks – Eastside Lady Bulldogs
Hicks continues to represent Eastside’s future with her growing confidence and effort. As she earns more minutes and learns the game, Hicks is giving the Lady Bulldogs valuable minutes on both ends. Her development has been one of the bright spots in a rebuilding year.

AnnaLee Simpson – Hickory Creek Lady Hawks
Simpson is the definition of a Swiss Army knife for an unbeaten Hickory Creek squad stacked with talent. Whether she’s handling the ball, locking down on defense or grabbing key rebounds, she finds a way to make an impact every night. Her versatility has been crucial in keeping the Lady Hawks perfect.

Willow Hertwig – Irving College Lady Tigers
Hertwig had a breakout performance this week, helping the Lady Tigers nearly knock off West. Her work ethic, coachability and athleticism are beginning to shine through, and she’s learning how to turn her energy into points. She’s quickly becoming a player the Lady Tigers can build around.

Piper Huff – Morrison Lady Eagles
Huff made her presence felt this week, scoring in Morrison’s big win over Eastside and anchoring the team with her rebounding and strength in the post. She’s embraced the physical side of the game and continues to be an important part of the Lady Eagles’ recent surge.

Chloe Meeks – West Lady Wizards
The Lady Wizards had a banner week, and Meeks was right in the middle of it. She provided scoring, hustle and leadership as West stacked up victories. Her ability to step up in big moments and make plays at both ends helped spark her team’s rise to a winning record.
