McMinnville resident and Viola native Georgia Lee McCorkle, 85, was born Nov. 18, 1940 and died March 17, 2026 at her residence following an extended illness.

A former employee and union president with Findlay Industries and a member of First Baptist Church of Viola, she was the daughter of the late Joe Haskel and Georgia Pearl Turner McClain. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters.

Georgia was married to James McCorkle of McMinnville on Sept. 23, 1960. In addition to her husband, she is survived by children, Debora (Jorge) Santana of Huntsville, Ala., Lisa (Miles) Gunter of McMinnville and Sherry (Carl) Herring of Hazel Green, Ala.; grandchildren, Morgan (Megan) Gunter of Smithville, Megan (Bart Holden) Gunter of Sneed, Ala., Christopher (Anastasia) Santana and James Houston Kirby, both of Huntsville, Ala. and Emilee Kirby of Knoxville; bonus grandchildren, Cody (Brooke Moss) Herring and Payton Herring, both of Athens, Ala.; great-grandchildren, Jackson Gunter and Miles Gunter; bonus great-grandchildren, Weslyn Royster, Oaklyn Royster and Nolan Herring; brother, Jay McClain of Smithville and sister, Olla Mae Prater of McMinnville.

Funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, March 21, 2026 in High’s Chapel with Ryan Vincion officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Zion Cemetery in Warren County. Visitation will be Saturday from 11 a.m. until time of service at High’s.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church of Viola.
