McMinnville resident and Barberton, Ohio native James Edward Coldwell, 48, was born August 26, 1976 and died suddenly on August 10, 2025 at St. Thomas River Park Hospital in McMinnville.

An employee with the Town of Morrison, he was the son of Mary Coldwell of McMinnville and the late Everett Coldwell. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by father-in-law and mother-in-law, Roy and Freddie Cravens.

He was married to Fredia Cravens Coldwell of McMinnville on July 3, 2015. In addition to his wife and mother, James is survived by two daughters, Tori (Adrian) Walker and Taylor (Trevor) Wanamaker, both of McMinnville; two sons, Hunter Black and Hayden Black (Melvandy Hale), both of McMinnville; two grandchildren, Waylon Gage Walker and Kinglynn Black; brother, Leonard Coldwell of McMinnville; aunt, Janice Farless of McMinnville and several close friends and neighbors, Frank and Nell Bell, Paulino, Kristy and Jaxyn Villegas and special daughter, Isabel Villegas, Franco Hernandez, K'rojhn Calbert, Tim Kilgore, Rodney Maynard, Finley, Cocoa, Pebbles, Hank, Gatsby, Wee and Petey.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, August 16, 2025 at The Redemption Center in McMinnville with Steve Madison officiating. The family will have a private graveside service. No service or visitation will be held at High’s.
