
McMinnville resident and Warren County native John Anthony Davenport, 74, was born July 25, 1951 and died September 1, 2025 at his residence following a brief illness.
A veteran of the United States Army, retired employee of the Carrier Corp. and member of the Church of Christ at Salem, he was the son of the late Houston and Lina Bell Davenport. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brother, Jack Davenport.
He was married to Wilma Davenport of McMinnville on October 5, 1981. In addition to his wife, John is survived by stepson, Daniel Spurling of Tacoma, Wash. and Patrick (Teresa) Spurling of Altus, Ark.; step-grandchildren, Arices Bickford-Higuchi, Sean Spurling and Savannah Spurling; step-great-grandchild, Annabella Davis; brother, Freddy Davenport and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, September 4, 2025 in High’s Chapel with Wayne Cantrell officiating. Burial will follow at Walling Cemetery in Van Buren County. Visitation will be Wednesday from 1 p.m. until 6 p.m. and Thursday from 8 a.m. until time of service at High’s.
