Leigh Ann (Thompson-Harris) Speal, 65, of Chattanooga, went home to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Friday, August 22, 2025. Leigh was a most beloved member of the Thompson family, and we will miss her until we see her again in Glory. Leigh regularly attended Silverdale Baptist Church in Chattanooga.

She was a kindhearted person, always pulling for the underdog. She loved a good laugh, and if you weren't careful, she might pull a practical joke here and there just for entertainment. She loved Jesus, animals, music, and sunshine. She ran six marathons and many half marathons. She was a nurse in the Labor and Delivery department for Hutcheson Medical Center, and later for Erlanger East, retiring in 2022.

She was the wife of Jonathan Speal, sharing 12 wonderful years together. Leigh was a widow of John (Johnny) Mark Harris, to whom she was married for thirty-four years, having two sons: Jonathan Nathaniel “Nate” Harris of Chattanooga, and Jacob Nicholas Harris (Staci) of Flintstone, Ga.. Leigh and Johnny also helped raise Johnny's nephew Tim Swaney. Leigh was known as LeighLeigh to five grandchildren: Chaz Harris, Della Harris, Drew Harris, Lincoln Harris, and Brooklyn Harris, and one great-grandchild, Adalee Harris, who will soon be joined by a new baby sibling.

She was also a stepmother to Jonathan’s three sons, their wives, and children, as well as a sister-in-law to David Speal (Shanna) and Keenan Speal.

Leigh was preceded in death by her mother, Jacqueline Woodlee Thompson; her grandparents, Sarah Josephine “Jo” Woodlee and Livy Barnes Woodlee; and her first husband, Johnny Harris.

Survivors include her loving husband, Jonathan Speal; father, Hubert Thompson; aunt, Cathy Barks (David); three siblings, Amber Brock (Rob), Whitney Arnold (Mike), and Andrew Thompson (Joann); two sons, Jonathan Nathaniel “Nate” Harris and Jacob Harris (Staci); five grandchildren; and many nephews and nieces who love her dearly.

Funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 26, 2025 in High’s Chapel with Roy Terry and Jared Arnold officiating. Burial will follow at McElroy Cemetery on Sparkman Town Road in the Bone Cave community. Visitation will be from noon until 1:15 p.m. at High’s.
