Meeks sets WCMS cross country record at Macon

Tyler Meeks turned in a record-setting morning Saturday as the White County Middle School cross country teams competed at the Macon Bank Invitational in Macon County.

Meeks finished the middle school boys race in 12:54, setting a new WCMS school record. His time was also good enough for fourth place overall and a medal.

Jaxon Matthews was the next Warrior across the finish line, recording a 15:49 to place 55th.

Justin Walden finished in 16:38, while Kane Webb crossed in 17:44, giving White County four runners under the 18-minute mark. Jacob Johnson rounded out the Warriors' times with a 21:24.

Together, the WCMS boys scored 231 points to finish eighth in the team standings, edging Westmoreland, which finished with 236.

The Warriorettes also had a top-10 individual finish as Aubrey Turner led the White County girls with a 10th-place showing.

Amelia Grizzard finished in 18:58, followed by Riley Ryan at 19:52. Haily Whitaker crossed in 21:28, and Kyla Barnett recorded a 22:23.

White County's girls combined for 153 points to take seventh in the team standings, finishing well ahead of DeKalb County's 199.
