Mildred Grove Simmons, 83

McMinnville, TN resident and Van Buren County, TN native Mildred Grove Simmons, 83, was born March 14, 1943 and died Sept. 19, 2026 at her residence surrounded by her loved ones following a brief battle with cancer.

A retired schoolteacher with Covenant Academy, she was the daughter of the late Jasper George Cecil Grove and Clercie Johnson Grove. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husband, William Edward Simmons.

Mrs. Simmons devoted 57 years of her life to teaching in Warren County. A dedicated educator, she loved teaching and had a special passion for helping children learn to read. She was heavily involved with Covenant Fellowship Church and was known for her fun spirit and the joy she brought to those around her.

Mrs. Simmons is survived by children, Jennifer Colvin (Laura Hill) of Knoxville, TN and Chris Simmons of Manchester, TN; grandchildren, Emily-Kate Colvin, Sean Blake, Kelse Redd and Nick Simmons and great-grandchildren, Lea Blake and Luci Blake.

Visitation will be Monday, Sept. 21, 2026 from 3 p.m. until 5 p.m. at High’s. A private graveside service and interment will be held at White Hill Cemetery in Van Buren County, TN.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Kids of the Community.
