Newton Ross Rowland, age 77, born and raised in Warren County, Tennessee, passed away June 4, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of faith, strength and unwavering work ethic. Throughout his life, he took on many roles - son, brother, father, grandfather, uncle, teacher, cook and many hats as an entrepreneur. Newton was the first teacher in Tennessee to offer computer programming.
A man of deep faith and quiet determination, Newton led with action and conviction. He was a natural athlete and coach, excelling in any sport he set his mind to - baseball, bowling, golf, winning many awards - and carried that same competitive spirit into his many business ventures. His entrepreneurial pursuits spanned several industries, each driven by his strong sense of purpose and self-reliance.
Newtonβs pride and joy was his family and recently, Newtβs BBQ, a vision he brought to life through hard work and dedication. The restaurant quickly became a local favorite known for its down-home, family recipes, welcoming atmosphere and exceptional staff. The recent addition of a food truck was a symbol of his drive to keep building and growing.
Newton was rarely without his best boy by his side - a dog lover at heart and is survived by both of his furry companions, Pete and newly added, Mister.
He is survived by children, Jimmy Shane Rowland, Newton Chad Rowland (Kim), and Candice Ann Rowland (Al); greatest pride and three granddaughters, Sarin Rowland, Elena Rowland, and Miya Rowland; sister, Eva Lois Moran; nephews, Rayce Henson, Russ Moran and Steve Moran (Karen) and niece-in-law, Rhonda Moran.
He was preceded in death by parents, Powell and Ina Rowland, brother-in-law, Tom Moran and nephew, Pat Moran.
